Randolph Eyewear - Crew Chief II

Randolph Eyewear makes the best eyewear, sunglasses, and specialty shooting glasses in the USA, and possibly the world.  This small, USA based company makes their frames mostly by hand in their USA factory.  Each frame and lens is inspected for quality and strength. Randolph Eyewear frames are the toughest frames on the market today.  They are so tough, in fact, that the United States Military has been using them as standard issue for over 20 years.  These frames have seen battle, and survived, which is why you need a pair of your very own.
Pictured below are the Randolph Crew Chief II sunglasses with a shiny chrome frame and gray lenses.  This frame style has been altered slightly from the original Crew Chief frame to fit a larger variety of face structures, and to appeal to both men and women.
Each pair of glasses from Randolph comes with a lifetime warranty on all solder joints.  Randolph has excellent customer service that cannot be beat.

Randolph Eyewear Rose Gold

Randolph Eyewear has been making quality frames and lenses for over 20 years.  They have been trusted by the U.S. military to make frames that can withstand the field of battle.  These frames are built to last and warranted for life.  If you are tired of flimsy frames and cheap sunglasses and eyewear, then you really need to purchase a pair of Randolph's.  From the moment you touch them, you can really feel the quality.  These frames are made by hand in the USA.
The Concorde frame is one of my favorite frames.  This frame works well on both men and women's faces.  The one pictured below is the feature frame of the week with Rose Gold Frames.

Rose gold: what to expect

Rose gold, also known as pink gold, has a very subtle and delicate color that intensifies with age. Different computer monitors may show rose gold pieces at varying intensities. Also, the pink color of rose gold jewelry may show up differently when viewed under different lighting situations: natural light, incandescent light, or fluorescent light.
Before ordering, you might want to familiarize yourself with the color of rose gold. Perhaps a friend or your jeweler can show you what rose gold jewelry looks like. The famous Black Hills rose gold jewelry is a good example.
Rose gold is created by increasing the copper-colored alloys normally found in gold and decreasing the silver-colored alloys. 14K rose gold contains as much gold as 14K yellow gold but is slightly pinker in color. Rose gold is available in both 14K and in 18K. The 14K, rose gold (which we use) has a more pronounced rose color.

Blue Flash Mirror Lenses are here for SUMMER!

Randolph Eyewear now has the Crew Chief Frame in a limited edition lens!
Please welcome the Randolph Crew Chief Blue Flash Mirror!

I have photographed this pair in high light and medium light so you can get a better idea of what you are buying.  These frames are a limited edition, and are expected to go fast.  If you are one of the many people who love the Johnny Depp blue lens aviators, then these are a close second to those pair.  At least they are from the same company, and after another month, you wont be able to find these sunglasses either.  The blue lens aviators that Johnny Depp is seen wearing around often, are made by Randolph Eyewear, and the company has since discontinued them.

Now you can get a pair of blue lens sunglasses too.  These blue lenses are a more deep blue, which shines to a light blue and purple also.  But mostly deep royal blue.

Randolph Sunglasses are quality frames and lenses that will protect your eyes!

They may be great fashion accessories but, more importantly, sunglasses are of extreme importance when it comes to maintaining good eye health.  Randolph Eyewear is a company that knows about eye care.  They are a United States based company that makes sunglasses for the U.S. military in their factory by hand.

www.randolpheyewear.com
Dr. Kerry Beebe, O.D., gives his patients two reasons – health and comfort — when explaining why they should wear sunglasses.
“From a health standpoint, you want to keep all ultraviolet light from getting into your eyes and onto the lids and the skin around them,” said Beebe, “From a comfort standpoint, some people are very sensitive to brightness and glare. By cutting down brightness and glare, people will visually perform better and be more comfortable.”
Beebe said sunglasses protect the eyes from painful sunburns and may help slow down cataracts and macular degeneration. Also, the skin around the eyes, including the lids, is one of the most prone to skin cancer.
“So certainly protecting the skin around the eyes with UV-filtering sunglasses is a good way to prevent skin cancer in that area,” he said.
From a comfort standpoint, polarized lenses are the most effective lenses for blocking glare. However, they can be inhibitive to people playing outdoor sports like golf.
Although buying sunglasses from a doctor’s office is the best guarantee of getting a pair of sunglasses that are effective in protecting eyes from ultraviolet rays, some low-cost sunglasses are now carrying optometric “seals of acceptance,” which guarantee their effectiveness.
“You don’t necessarily have to have the expensive glasses to block out UV rays,” Beebe said. “A lot of times the expense comes from the quality of the frames and the optics of the lens. Some lenses are optically ground and are much more distortion free than other glasses that have more of pressed lens where there may be more distortion.”

Reasons to Wear Sunglasses
1.) UV Protection. The sun's UV radiation can cause cataracts; benign growths on the eye's surface, sometimes called snow blindness, which is a temporary but painful sunburn of the eye's surface. Wide-brimmed hats and caps can block about 50 percent of UV radiation from the eyes but optometrists say that is not enough protection.
2.) Blue-Light Protection. Long-term exposure to the blue and violet portion of the solar spectrum has been implicated as a risk factor formacular degeneration, especially for individuals that are “sun sensitive.”
3.) Comfortable vision. The sun's brightness and glare interferes with comfortable vision and the ability to see clearly by causing people to squint and the eyes to water.
4.) Dark adaptation. Spending just two or three hours in bright sunlight can hamper the eyes' ability to adapt quickly to nighttime or indoor light levels. This can make driving at night after spending a day in the sun more hazardous.
5.) Skin Cancer. Cancer of the eyelids and skin around the eyes is more common than people think. People should wear sunglasses outdoors whether they are working, driving, participating in sports, taking a walk, running errands or doing anything in the sun.
Five Tips for Healthy Eyes
1.) Wear protective eyewear any time your eyes are exposed to UV light, even on cloudy days and during winter months.
2.) Look for quality sunglasses that offer good protection. Sunglasses should block out 99 to 100 percent of both UVA and UVB radiation and screen out 75 to 90 percent of visible light.
3.) Check to make sure your sunglass lenses are perfectly matched in color and free of distortions and imperfections.
4.) Purchase gray-colored lenses. They reduce light intensity without altering the color of objects, providing the most natural color vision.  A great brand is Randolph Eyewear.  They have lenses in all different colors, including grey, specifically tailored to the kind of sun exposure you encounter the most.
5.) Don’t forget protection for children and teenagers. They typically spend more time in the sun than adults.

Randolph Review - Real Customer Review

In my lifetime, I have owned approximately 1,473 pairs of sunglasses.  Ok, that may be a SLIGHT exaggeration, but still not TOO far off.  When I think back to the sunglasses I have owned, it is a blur of cheap plastic, “chrome” frames, and lenses made of who knows what that seemed to scratch every time my eyelashes brush against them.  I have had lenses mysteriously just pop out of their frames and ear pieces break at the slightest gust of wind.  I have witnessed sunglasses mysteriously disappearing after falling beneath the seat of my car, and felt guilt ridden at the realization that I left them sitting in a bathroom somewhere I will undoubtedly never visit again.
All of these experiences are the both the cause and result of purchasing very poor sunglasses over the years of my life.  My thinking was that if my sunglasses were just going to break or get lost, why would I want to invest any real money in them?  And since I didn’t have any real money invested in them, I didn’t care enough about them to take the actions necessary to keep them from getting broken or lost.  I was stuck in an endless cycle of terrible sunglasses.
Growing up, I was always enamored with my father’s sunglasses.  I still remember sneaking into his bedroom to put on his gold-rimmed aviators that he kept in a leather pouch complete with a cleaning clothe.  Of course, the lenses completely covered my round, chubby face, but I thought I looked like one of the Blue Angels Pilots every time I looked in the mirror.
Even now as an adult, I have struggled with the idea of spending more than $25 on any pair of sunglasses.  The fear of losing or breaking them was still fresh in my mind, so I tended to stick with buying my sunglasses at places like gas stations and Walmart.
If you are a regular reader of this site, you know what comes next.  I make a comment about the importance of quality and not quantity.  I may make mention about the fact that I have probably spent at least $200 over the past couple years on multiple pairs of sunglasses that were lost or broken because of my own oversight and lack of concern because I only see them as a $15 pair of sunglasses that aren’t going to cause me to go into financial ruin if they were to somehow become unwearable.
But that’s not what you are reading this for.  You are reading this article because I promised to talk about Randolph Engineering Sunglasses, so let’s get on to that.
Randolph Engineering probably has one of the greatest mission statements I have seen.  It states their mission as:
  • To define, produce and deliver the world’s finest eyeware
  • To stand as the example by which others are considered.
  • To value our human resource, our community, our clients and our customers as equals.
  • To exemplify world-class service, integrity and quality in every aspect of our business.
Through the process of reviewing their products, I can say that Randolph has upheld their mission with great diligence.  They were kind enough to send me a pair of their P3 Sunglasses that I have grown to love in a way I didn’t know a man could love sunglasses.  Matt feels the same way about the pair of Concorde Aviators he received.

Concorde

P3
Upon first receiving them, we both had apprehensions about wearing them often because of our past experiences with cheap sunglasses.  We were terrified of breaking or losing these awesome shades because that’s all we have ever known.  But as we got over that fear, we realized something: These bad boys were not going to break. Everything about these sunglasses scream quality.  After consistent wearing for over 1 month, there has been zero sign of any type of wear or tear on either pair of glasses.

According to Peter Waszkiewicz, CEO of Randolph, the company views that their customers take their eyewear very seriously, perhaps even life saving, so the firm recently introduced a maintenance kit for each set of eyewear. “It made sense for us to add this feature to our product lines as it is a statement of just how serious we take the commitment that people make to wearing our eyewear. Randolph is not chosen because of fads or some styling wave. Our glasses have a serious role to play in people’s lives – at home and at work – thus we chose to develop this kit as part of the total commitment we make to our customers”…said Waszkiewicz.
Each Equipment Maintenance Kit includes an optical screwdriver, an extra pair of nose pads, and extra screws. “The need for this kit arose because of the durability of our glasses”, Waszkiewicz said. “The construction of our glasses is of such high quality that our customers were wearing through their nose pads. This is not an issue with most sunglass manufacturers, but we consider this kit to be a point of pride” he said.
“Our field testing interviews found that high performance people demand the same of the equipment they use. The simple fact is that when a life might be at stake, either in the air or on the ground, our customers will never have to worry that their Serious Equipment will fail them because the tools in the kit will keep their equipment in top order”, added Waszkiewicz.
“Sometimes, that edge spells the difference in lethal performance.”
Randolph Engineering is a privately held company with a remarkable brand identity that has endured for years. The company both engineers and manufactures products at its facility in Randolph, Massachusetts. The company’s movie-famous Aviator line is truly an iconic brand within the realm of American brands as it is the choice of pilots worldwide, especially fighter pilots.

Randolph Eyewear for the Holidays

Randolph Eyewear

This holiday season, give the gift of Randolph Eyewear.  Randolph makes durable frames tested for over 20 years by the U.S. military.  And hollywood celebrities have started to wear Randolph's also.

www.randolpheyewear.com

This style of aviator sunglasses was made famous by the photograph of General Douglas MacArthur when he was photographed returning to the Philippines as he promised after the Japanese were pushed back into the jungles. These timeless aviator sunglasses have been popular for many years, and continue to be the sunglasses choice of style by celebrities and move stars. Concorde sunglasses can be seen in movies like “Top Gun”, “Apocalypse Now” and many others, worn by movie stars like Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt.
They provide full eye coverage and are reminiscent of the Foster Grant style which originated in the 1930′s and first became available to the general public through a Woolworths’ store on the boardwalk at Atlantic City, NJ.
MacArthur wore gold frame skull temple AGX (slight green tint) aviator sunglasses in the photograph on the left, but today you can choose different frame finishes, temples and lens tints with our Randolph Concorde sunglasses.
All of Randolph Engineering’s Concorde aviator sunglasses have lenses which absorb 98 to 100% of harmful ultraviolet light while allowing a range of 12 to 18% of visible light to pass through the lens. The premium mineral glass lenses are precision ground and chemically tempered to provide excellent impact resistance which exceeds the ANSI Z-803 standard.

Randolph Eyewear sunglasses are the only glasses you will ever need to buy again.  With a lifetime warranty on each and every pair, you can rely on Randolph Eyewear and their products.  They have all the classic styles, made mostly by hand in the USA.

Choosing Quality Sunglasses makes a BIG Difference!

Flying grit from off-roading or yard work, chemicals in pools, a sun that sears delicate tissues -- summer is an obstacle course for your precious eyes. You can still have fun, but you may need to take some steps to protect your peepers.
A lot of this is common sense, which, sadly, is not always so common.

1. Wear Sun Protection!!!  Take it from an emergency room doctor. Eyewise, he has seen it all. Here are some top recommendations from several experts.
"A lot of people come to the ER with burned corneas each summer," Richard O'Brien, MD, an emergency physician with the Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton, Penn., tells WebMD.
"We have a lot of NASCAR up here. You'd be amazed how many people go to that, a concert, or other all-day event without wearing a visor cap and sunglasses. They even lie on their shiny RVs -- that is like being in a tanning booth.

"They are fine at first, then go home, go to sleep, and wake up in an hour in excruciating pain. I have had people come in here crying."
The sun, of course, shoots out rays of different lengths. The most damaging are the ultraviolet rays, which are classified as UVA and UVB.
"Most decent sunglasses," Richard Bensinger, MD, an ophthalmologist in private practice in Seattle, tells WebMD, "protect against UVB. If they also protect against UVA, it should say so on them."
Sunglasses may be one thing you don't want to get at the Dollar Store, O'Brien observes. They should be close to the face or wraparound. Some people like dark tints, but the UV-blocking coating is the same on any color. Polarized lenses may be more comfortable for workers outside because they block glare.
Too much ultraviolet can accelerate the formation of cataracts, Bensinger adds. "There are very solid studies that show this; people who stayed in the sun tended to get cataracts eight to 10 years before a carefully selected group that was mostly in the shade or indoors."
The hat-sunglasses combo should also be worn at the beach, amusement parks, bike rides, boating, or anyplace where there is prolonged sun exposure, O'Brien cautions.
And don't forget the little ones -- they need the same.

For a great pair of sunglasses I suggest Randolph Eyewear.  Randolph makes sunglasses for the US military, so you know they are no joke.  These sunglasses are tough and made to last.  The company even insures these glasses solder joints for life.
You really cant go wrong with a pair of sunglasses from Randolph Eyewear.  They are American Made, using the best materials possible.  There are many styles available, and these are the frames that will never go out of fashion.  Randolph Eyewear is just superior.
For a limited time Randolph Eyewear is giving 10% off to all new customers.
