A beautifully made and detailed product - excellent in all regards of manufacture. Light to wear and stylish for most any occassion.

One observation....I have worn B&W for many years. Then I switched to Corning Serengetis when a relative worked in their prototype department - both excellent glasses.

Both had slightly larger lenses offering more eye-cover and especially protection from overhead sun than the Randolph Aviators.

I've been wearing high-end sunglasses for 43 years; I remember when Ray Bans' Aviators gold frames were 14 karat and sturdy. These are outstanding sunglasses! They possess an interesting mix of: style, performance, heritage, quality, and authority. I have received some interesting looks while wearing these sunglasses! The flash mirror tent doesn't necessarily seem reduce brightness and glare any more than perhaps a darker lense. However, the day isn't quite as bright with these glasses on. On a side note, these shades feel indestructible! These are now my favorite pair of sunglasses!

A couple of months ago, we tested a pair of sunglasses by Randolph Eyewear, the Massachusetts-based manufacturer of shooting eyewear and sunglasses. 

Now, after testing the glasses in the mountains of Colorado, everyday use at home, as well as in the sun of Arizona, we want to present you the Sportsman sunglasses from Randolph Eyewear. First, we will take a glimpse at the history of this company, then describe and analyze the sunglasses before we provide you with our conclusion

Find The Right frame In The Correct Size

This means you can pick between one out of nine basic frame styles. Once you determined what look is best for you, it is time to pick one of the numerous sizes. ). Not all heads are created equal, and so the Sportsman frame is available in 3 different sizes: 52mm (small), 57mm (medium), 61mm (large). In order to determine the right size, you have to measure your face in front of a mirror with a ruler from temple to temple. With that measurement, RE will be able to tell you what frames you need. Alternatively, you can visit your optometrist.

Afterwards, it is time to pick a frame color. I decided on gold but I could have gotten matte black, matte chrome, bright chrome or gun metal instead.

Temples & Polarized Lenses

Depending on the length of your head, you can now choose between 4 different temple lengths and 3 temple designs. I preferred the classic skull temples over the cable or bayonet style.

Last but not least, you have to settle on some lenses. While you can choose between 8 lenses, including mineral glass lenses, polycarbonate lenses etc. However, I strongly recommend you pick between either the grey or tan polarized lenses because these noticeably reduce glare from reflective surfaces such as snow or water, and hence provide better vision. Polarization basically means that the lens filters horizontal polarized light waves which are hard on the human eye. Think of it as tiny blinds that filter unpleasant light but nothing else.

We decided to go with the polarized lenses in tan and they are truly magnificent. The colors are vivid and the lack of glare is amazing which became especially visible when I switched my sunglasses and compared them to other ones- including another famous aviator brand. Even compared to other polarized sunglasses I preferred the Sportsman. The nose pads are made of soft silicone and my glasses did not move around on my nose, even during a warm hike in an Sedona, Arizona canyon.

While I have to admit that I do not find most of their frame styles to be particularly appealing to my tastes, I can wholeheartedly recommend their Sportsman model. While the price is not low, a customized, made-to-order pair of sunglasses with a lifetime frame warranty stands up as a real value against typically high competitor prices and fleeting designer styles. Product Review - Falcon - Randolph Eyewear

If you are in the market for a great pair of shooting glasses, look no further than the Ranger Falcons by Randolph Eyewear.  I recently tested them out at the range, shooting trap in the bright sun and .22s under a shady wooden structure.

I’ll speak to their comfort and effectiveness in a moment, but first a little bit about the product and the company behind it.

Founded in 1972, Randolph Engineering exemplifies the American Dream – two Polish immigrants start a small tool and die company in Randolph, Massachusetts, and become one of the leading optical companies in this field in the country.

Randolph Engineering began manufacturing aviator sunglasses for the US Air Force in the late 1970s and won the government bid to become the prime contractor in 1982.

Learning about the quality of its sunglasses through the military, civilians demanded commercial sunglasses and Randolph Eyewear was happy to oblige.

The Ranger Falcon Kit, which I tested out last week, is named after the F-16 Fighting Falcon, an American fighter jet known for the cockpit’s exceptional field of view.  Not coincidentally, the Falcon’s shield design offers shooters an equally exceptional view.

I really cannot say enough about how natural and easy the Ranger Falcon shooting glasses were to use.  They just felt right.  In no way were they a distraction.  I did not spend one moment thinking about them, which is important when shooting.  In addition, I loved the options in the lenses.  The fact that all three were readily available in one case made changing the lenses due to shooting conditions that much easier.

My eyes often feel tired after staring at the computer all day. So I'm wondering if glasses designed for computer use actually help (for example, those yellow-tinted glasses I've seen on Randolph Eyewear. They seem pricey and I'm a little skeptical about all the claims, but I also want to protect my vision. 

Vision problems are unfortunately one of the hazards of too much screen time. In fact, theVision Council found that 70 percent of US adults in one survey reported having some kind of digital eye strain (strained, dry, or red eyes; blurred vision; headaches; back pain; neck pain; or general fatigue) as a result of using digital devices for hours at a time.P

We've previously noted several ways to prevent or reduce eyestrain, including using the 20-20-20 rule to regularly give your eyes a break and ergonomically optimizing your workstation. In addition to those essential tweaks, computer eyewear could also alleviate or prevent digital eyestrain, depending on your situation. I talked to several eye health experts to find out more about these special glasses, and also did a two-week trial comparing new specially-coated glasses with older ones. Here's what I learned.

Older ones do peel and "craze," resulting in unsightly cracks, while newer ones wear very well and have a one-year warranty. So when you're at the eye doctor, you'll want to ask for the latest coating—and perhaps buy new glasses even if your prescription hasn't changed in the last few years, because coatings definitely have improved.PAnti-reflective (AR) coating: Anti-reflective coatings reduce glare bouncing off screens and from light sources. Rose Lenses

• Rose lenses are quite different from red lenses. Though they appear to be light red or pink, rose lenses are designed to let more light in and are typically best for medium to low light conditions. These lenses are often used for skiing and snowboarding goggles and glasses because they increase contrast with the snow and provide better vision for overcast and stormy days. Unlike red lenses, rose -- sometimes called vermilion -- lenses are not suitable for bright, sunny weather where you'll be exposed to direct sunlight for long periods, because they allow a higher VLT. According to the Vision Council, an eyewear industry association, some people like rose lenses best for comfortable, prolonged wear.
